E6 Cattle rears calves for use on dairy farms, confining approximately 10000 calves and subjecting them to lives of prolonged neglect and misery. For over two weeks in March of 2011, an MFA undercover investigator documented the operation’s deplorable conditions and brutal mistreatment of animals. Bovine Johne’s Disease – Three Step Calf Plan

Australias cattle industries and governments are working towards a national, less-regulated approach to managing bovine Johnes disease (BJD). The National BJD Strategic Plan aims to minimise the contamination of farms and farm products, protect the status of non-infected herds and minimise BJDs social, economic and trade impact at herd, regional and national levels. In the dairy industry, dairy farmers can use a number of tools to help them manage BJD, including participation in Cattle Market Assurance Programs (Cattle MAP), calf rearing (the 3 Step Calf Plan) and declaring an animals National Dairy BJD Assurance Score (Dairy Score) when trading cattle.
